Hello, I’m Amelia Grace, and I’m the person behind deliasmithcook.co.uk.

I started this site because I kept doing the same thing over and over: standing in my kitchen with a battered recipe book open on the counter, flour on the page, trying to work out whether “a knob of butter” meant a small one or a generous one.

I love classic British cooking — the kind of food that built our family Sundays and got passed down on scraps of paper and in the margins of cookbooks. I wanted a place where those recipes were written the way I wish someone had written them for me: clearly, in proper detail, and tested in a real home kitchen rather than a TV studio.

Every recipe on this site has been cooked, adjusted, and cooked again in my own kitchen before it goes anywhere near the site. I’m not interested in publishing something just to fill a page. If a method doesn’t work the way I’ve described it, I don’t post it — simple as that.

Where I’ve adapted a classic dish, I say so, and I try to explain why I made the change, whether that’s for a modern oven, an easier-to-find ingredient, or just a step that never quite made sense to me on the page.

What you’ll find here is a growing collection of British classics — comforting bakes, proper Sunday roasts, traditional puddings, and the kind of everyday dinners that don’t need fifteen ingredients to taste like something.

I write for people who want to cook well without needing a culinary degree to follow the instructions. If you’ve ever paused halfway through a recipe wondering what on earth “fold” or “rest” actually means in practice, that’s exactly who I’m writing for.

I’m continually adding to the site, testing new dishes, and going back to update older recipes when I find a better way to explain a step or a way to make the result more reliable. If you try something from here, I’d genuinely love to know how it went — the good and the not-so-good. That feedback is how this site keeps getting better.

Thank you for stopping by and cooking along with me.

Warmly, Amelia Grace
